Thinking
What we do and how we think about it. Services at the top, writing below.
Services
Residential Architecture
Private homes and family residences, from site selection through to completion. We work across plot sizes and budgets, with a consistent focus on how a building performs for the people inside it over time.
Mixed-Use Development
Buildings that combine residential, commercial, and community uses. We coordinate the programme conflicts that mixed-use development inevitably produces, and find arrangements that make each use better because of its neighbours.
Urban & Master Planning
Neighbourhood-scale frameworks that structure growth over time. We work with local authorities, development partners, and community organisations to produce plans that are buildable, not just visionary.
Ecological Design
Buildings and landscapes that take their environmental conditions seriously. Green roofs, water management, passive cooling, material sourcing, integrated from the start rather than appended at the end.
Community Housing
Rehousing and affordable housing design in partnership with development agencies and government bodies. We bring particular experience in modular and expandable typologies suited to East African urban conditions.
Interior Environments
Interior design for completed shells, or interior work as part of a full architectural commission. Material selection, lighting, spatial sequencing: the decisions that determine how a building actually feels.

Context
On Building in Kigali
Kigali is a city that rewards close reading. Its hills, wetlands, and rapid growth create a design brief that is unlike anywhere else in the region.

The Case for Expandable Housing
The problem with most social housing is that it is finished on delivery. The family it was designed for does not stay the same size, does not keep the same income, does not have the same needs.

Wetlands as Infrastructure
A wetland does not look like infrastructure. It looks like nothing in particular: reeds, still water, mud. This is why it keeps getting filled in.
